Complete with frontispiece & seven black & white plates, as well as numerous black & white illustrations by H.J. Ford and G.P. Jacomb Hood. Re-backed with original backstrap laid down, binding tight with very good spine integrity. Moderate edgewear to covers, yet the enchanting gilt pictorial cloth remains rather bright. Some light spotting throughout text, especially at margins. Previous owner's Christmas inscription in year of publication to preliminary blank; text otherwise unmarked. Missing tissue guard at frontis.
