A lovely edition of the German translation of Kristin Lavransdatter. This copy belonged to Dr. Ludwig Kempe, German-American neurosurgeon, ornithologist, and illustrator, retired colonel in the U.S. Army, asst. chief of neurosurgery at Walter Reed, etc. etc. His bookplate to front pastedown, embossed stamp to front flyleaf, along with two drawings and ownership signature. Uncommon in jacket.
