Limoges: Paul Mellottée, (1910). First Thus. Small 8vo. 4.75 x 6 in. 448 pp. Deep blue morocco, with silver J.P. monogram to upper cover, five raised bands; titled and decorated in gilt, all edges red under gold; gilt dentelles, silk doublures and leather hinges. Presented in custom wooden display box with clasp, exterior painted black and decorated on top bevel with green floral border, interior with ivory padding. An elaborate production, each spread of pages profusely illustrated in three-quarter border with monochrome vignettes illustrating the Christian virtues. Printed variously in brown and blue. Circular tissue-guarded frontis. reproduction of la Vierge à l'Enfant. Contents include copious prayers, the Ordinary of the Mass, Commun des Saints, Propre du Temps, Propres des Saintsk, Psaumes, Hymnes, Proses, and Cantiques. Text in French and Latin. Approbations. Very good indeed in like box. Light edgewear. A few gatherings, at the section of the text in which The Ordinary of the Mass is found, though somewhat loose, remain attached. Binding square and tight, text clean and bright. Box moderately rubbed at extremities.
